There are many, many different religious teachings and practices worldwide, and religious teachings in rehab. Nearly all of these religions and “methods of rehab” share the same point of view as regards the abuse of drugs and alcohol.  Most religions suggest to us that there are forces beyond our understanding, and that these “evil” forces tempt man into using drugs and alcohol. They somehow know that pain and suffering from abuse of drugs and alcohol – or, it is more to “get back at God”, thereby paving the way to darkness for man. The solution to drugs and alcohol, according to rehab and religion (and this is not so true nowadays as it was once perhaps), is to closely adhere to the “word of religion”, and to rehab, and to direct oneself in accordance with one’s faith in such a way as to subdue and overcome temptation associated with drugs and alcohol, and drive the evil forces that lay behind such attempts back to Hell! (The above example adheres probably more to the Christian religion than anything.)

A handful of religions do make use of drugs and alcohol, and they are used in certain religious ceremonies. This has next to nothing to do with addiction to drugs and alcohol, or rehab! Religious and rehab teachings in general would have us believe that giving into the temptation to use and/or abuse drugs and alcohol is to succumb to the power of evil forces, and that in giving into such temptation to abuse drugs and alcohol is to, at the same time, embark upon an anti-rehab journey into the realms of the wicked; it is to stray from the Word of God, and His teachings.

To me, and to the rehab point of view in general, it is not really important as to whether or not “evil forces” are the ones’ responsible for any persons’ headlong fall into the dark world of drugs and alcohol! Regardless of “who”, or “what”, is responsible for why a person begins to abuse drugs and alcohol to the detriment of their “normal” way of doing things, addiction to drugs and alcohol in itself is a predicament; a phenomenon whose nature and cycle, and the effects of that cycle, are relatively simple to understand separate from religious teachings, and rehab.

It is beyond the scope of this article to debate the various religious and/or rehab beliefs and practices worldwide as regards drugs and alcohol; it is also beyond the scope of this article to explain various and proposed religious and rehab ties to the occult interpretation of many religious practices, and practice in the occult arts itself, where drugs and alcohol are concerned. MYSTICISM, MAGICK, and OCCULT PRACTICES IN GENERAL ARE ENTIRELY ABOUT THE APPLICATION OF SELF OBSERVANCE, AND REQUIRE AN EXTREME APPLICATION OF SELF-DISCIPLINE. THESE PRACTICES, UNLIKE REHAB, ARE DESIGNED TO BRING ABOUT A GREATER LEVEL OF SELF AWARENESS IN THE INTEREST OF ATTAINING KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUE SELF TO THE END OF ATTAINING PEACE WITH THAT SELF, AND WITH GOD.

Unlike rehab, early on in the study of the occult sciences, a student is required to observe certain practices designed to help him or her gain a greater level of self awareness. Use of drugs and alcohol is not forbidden. Many of these exercises develop both the physical body as well as the mind. In the case of “obsession” with drugs and alcohol, which is one way that addiction is defined in terms of occult terminology, the student is required to observe how any form of obsession, even obsession with drugs and alcohol, weighs upon the rest of the life, and how it upsets both the life and the Will. This is both similar and different from the views of rehab.

How do you know if you are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, and if you need rehab? How do you know if you are an addict, and/or addicted to other things as well, and need rehab? Quite simply: you will find that you cannot effectively manage your life while using (or more correctly, abusing) drugs and alcohol. Whether it is drugs and alcohol, or a behavior, or even an obsessive thought, and/or behavioral pattern; if it upsets your other daily activities this often suggests addiction, and rehab or spiritual practices are a suggested course of action. Keep in mind, also, that even though you may be able to manage your use of drugs and alcohol well enough while living within the confines of an addictive cycle, you can still be “addicted” to drugs and alcohol, and could benefit from rehab or occult studies and practices.

For rehab, and for drugs and alcohol, might I first suggest attending either an Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meeting in your area? Maybe even rehab? (Nowadays, there are also Twelve Step Meetings for other addictions as well aside from drugs and alcohol.) Should you ultimately find that rehab and/or these solutions do not work for you, there are other views and methodologies on drug and alcohol addiction that you might also want to investigate.

For rehab, Twelve Step Programs essentially require that you, in some way, arrive at an honest assessment of your life’s predicament with drugs and alcohol, and seek help by giving up your own methods and approaches to treating your drug and alcohol addiction, mentally and physically. Alternatively, you might want to enlist yourself into the sororities and fraternities of the Hermetic Society of the Golden Dawn, or even read all of Aleister Crowley’s works, and undertake a “magickal retirement” to “rehab” yourself and arrest your problems with drugs and alcohol.

Adopting a motto, a magickal name, and endeavoring to discover your True Self are requirements that are set early on in your occult training. As in rehab sometimes, you are also required to keep a daily journal, later a dream diary; and you are required to adhere to certain daily practices more out of self-discipline than anything. Observing yourself, as regards use of drugs and alcohol, writing of your feelings, your goals, and your struggles, and your rehab, are all helpful. Learning to meditate, to breathe correctly, to pray, to ask questions; to practice Yoga, to gain self-control, and to eventually master elements of your own physical body and mind, and your obsession with drugs and alcohol, are further requirements for success in these Paths. Addiction to drugs and alcohol is assessed and conquered often in the early stages of development, and both rehab and therapy of some form is often suggested.

The use of tarot cards has been going on for hundreds of years. Tarot cards fringe on a subject called the new age, and mysticism. This brings up an important topic, as we have seen that in drug use, there is a case for such a view, but does it apply to tarot?

This kind of fusion with the new age and mysticism is close to occultism. Many people who generally go into the many branches of the occult often have started with a keen interest in astrology, and or then into tarot cards and reading the cards.

Does this necessary mean that most people who get into tarot will go into the occult sciences? I don’t believe it does. However, it is a point to consider. And it depends on the person rather than simply stating that tarot cards get people into occultism.

For example many people meditate, but not all of those people will practice yoga or even get into deep occult topics. Again, it depends on what the person is seeking. If a person doesn’t find the answers they seek with the popular religions or seek to find out more than simply believing what has been written, that person likely will delve into the occult.

Many people who get into divination of some kind, whether it is astrology or tarot card reading, will not pursue it for life. Many choose to dabble, to find some answers, and that is how it finishes for most.

It is the few who will continue to read tarot cards for a lifetime. However, it happens. And even then it is not something that will cause all those people to get into the occult sciences, Wicca, etc.

The world has many branches, and many religions, and though occultism can not really be defined as a religion, in the Judeo-Christian religion sense, it is still a path that many people choose to follow. Occultism and mysticism seem to provide people who are seeking a more depth, to find the answers they seek.

A point to remember is that occultism and a cult are totally different things. A cult generally has a bad objective, whereas occultism has a positive objective. History has made us weary and rightly so, because it is not like a religion such as Christianity which is in the norm, above the table, and everyone knows what is going on.

Wicca for example has many branches which make up Wicca, and defining a doctrine for how things operate is not something that happens in Wicca or any other occult paths.

I guess we have sidestepped a bit from the tarot cards, and occultism question, but it is hard to define a simple yes or no. Looking at research, and how people generally act with topics of divination, it is not a cause for concern that people will jump into the new age, and stay.

However for many people tarot cards have been an entry point. For others, it has allowed them to dabble, and then leave. I guess it depends on what people want out of tarot, and the questions and answers they seek to be resolved.

The mysteries of the occult have interested men and women throughout history. Even the very name occult makes us think of ancient oracles, demons and ghosts. To solve and understand these mysteries, people have invented the occult sciences, which include astrology, divination, sorcery, demonology, necromancy, wizardry and many others. Those who have tampered with the occult in the past claim to have supernatural powers themselves, but usually this is nothing more than figments of there over charged imagination. Conjurers however, never claim they have powers they do not really have, but base their part on his or her perception, psychology, and hard practice. When practicing on stage, a conjurer is never opposed to a little trickery to enhance his presentation.

John Henry Anderson named himself the Great Wizard of the North in the early 1800’s. This famous Philippe usually appeared in a costume of an oriental wizard, who claimed he had powers of second sight, but even some of this can be traced directly to the use of magic. Bill Robinson used his skills to expose the frauds carried out by spiritualists, along with John Maskelyne, Harry Kellar, and Harry Houdini. Their targets were men like the Davenport brothers, who claimed to be spiritualists, but were nothing more that skilled conjurers.

Some of the most dramatic conjuring illusions ever presented on stage were inspired by eerie tales of the occult. Even today, the influences of the occult (reciting magic formulas, devil costumes, mysterious puff of smoke which leads to something vanishing) can be seen in contemporary conjuring acts.

The occult trick that follows has nothing to do with ancient black arts, but has been modified by masterful conjuring tricks. However, if you can master this and others like it, you will be spooking and fascinating people everywhere you go.

You will need: a teaspoon and a cigarette

To prepare the trick: In advance, moisten the tip of your middle finger of your right hand. Dip the moistened tip into some cigarette ashes and shake off any excess. Hide the ashes that you used.

Perform the trick: Hold you hands naturally at your side and as for a volunteer from the audience. Ask to see her hands and pretend you are reading her palms. Then ask her to turn her palms down so you can examine the backs. Take a hold of their hands so your fingers are touching her palms. Gently press your middle finger onto her left palm to leave a black mark. Tell her you need her to move her hands apart further and bring them about six inches farther apart then let her hands and yours drop to your sides. Ask her to make tight fists with her hands. When she does point back and forth between both of her fists. If she tells you to stop at her left fist, tell her to lower her right. If she tells you to stop at her right fist, tell her to lower her right fist. Remind her to keep her hand tightly closed. Now ask an audience member who smokes to light the cigarette and flick some ashes onto your spoon. Step away from the volunteer, mutter some magic words, and blow the ashes of the spoon towards your volunteers fist. Tell her the devil has been to work on her and if she opens her fist she will have proof because the devils black mark will be in her palm.

TRAVELOGUE –MY FIRST REAL TRYST WITH THE OCCULT 

I was born a Kshatriya or a warrior  in the house of the Zamorin , the erstwhile ruler of Kozhikode in the present State of Kerala, India, which is where Vasco De Gamma landed after his historic voyage in search of the sea route to India and obtained trading concessions especially for spices from the Raja. The “Zamorin” exists to this day and has the distinction of being the only Indian prince who still draws the privy purse (compensation) which the government of India shamelessly withdrew arbitrarily, retracting all their earlier promises to the contrary, when the then strongman and Home Minister, Mr. Patel gave them the option of willingly acceding to the newly Independent India or having to forcibly annex their vast properties, belongings and jewelry. 

At that time and even now, in the northern part of kerala, where this story commences, we followed the Matriarchal system, whereby the children adopted the name of the mother’s family house as prefix to their name. Since time immemorial, our women have always strong and had equal rights with men right from their birth. 

My tryst with the occult started in the house where I was born. It was called kuttichathan’s  kavu(abode). Kuttichathan is a small demigod in Hindu Mythology with wide powers for helping or harming people. Some consider him to be the mischief maker for the devil but I have seen him worshipped amidst our gods and many dedicate themselves to his service.

 My formative years were in this house and we would often hear and see stones raining incessantly exclusively on our roof and my mother would tell me that we should light an oil lamp in a small temple for Kuttichathan located at the entrance of the estate gate so as to appease his anger at being ignored and not getting his obeisance. Surprisingly, after regular lamp lighting there, the stones raining stopped altogether. 

By the time I was five years old, I had extracted most of the stories about K.ChathanAnd other astounding stories from the maids and old men and women who visited our house. 

Young though I was, I learnt that people of the lower caste, especially women were not allowed within the 4 walls of the castle or kovil-agam and were considered untouchable by the royalty but many of these girls were beautiful and buxom and the envy of some of the raja boys who would go out of the kovilakam to exploit them physically with their consent. That these girls were obliged to move about topless was another aphrodisiac for the young royalty. 

When I was just seven years old, my grandfather, a specialist surgeon, took me with him for a 3 day camp of the interior hilly villages of Tindivanam near Pondicherry. It was on these hills that I first witnessed the practice of the occult so rampantly and publicly. The nights were colorful and brimmed with activities relating to blatant indulgence in witchcraft culminating in taking “KALI”, the Goddess of War in a palanquin amid chanting of Vedic and magic verses, to her ultimate destination on the hillside temple ,ending in offerings of Animal Sacrifice and liquor to appease her. Whether it was the Goddess who was appeased or the revelers themselves is a matter of personal opinion. 

It was on these hills that I had my first tryst with serious black magic. During the day, I was left in the care of the family of Mr. Dos, a wealthy land owner and close friend to my grandfather. One wet and cloudy morning at around 07.00 hrs, Mr. DOS’s 17 year old son Anthony, asked me to accompany him if I was strong of heart .Always ready for an adventure I acceded and followed him. After a 40 minute trek, we reached a clearing with only one Tamarind Tree nearby. Anthony drew a circle of about 2 meters with a stick bade me to sit just inside it and hold my nerve. Soon my host unpacked many pooja (prayer with lit fire ) ingredients from a bag he was carrying, lit a fire with the special twigs he had brought with him and commenced loud chanting with ghee ablutions. An hour passed and my friend was still stretching his vocal cords to its limit, when a tall well built very dark colored man approached the Tamarind tree, threw a rope over a strong branch,, tied a noose round his neck and hanged himself to death in front of our eyes. The time was exactly 08.45 Hrs. 

Anthony then stopped his chanting; cut down the body loose, brought it inside the circle, placed it with the head pointing east and again commenced his chanting with more fervor. 

Thirty minutes into this, he suddenly stopped, took my hand and stepped out of the circle and started briskly walking westwards, warning me repeatedly not to look back at any cost. Curiosity took the better of me and after some time I ventured a sly look over my shoulder and what I saw shocked my senses. There, following us was the man who had hung himself and whose body we had left in the circle. 

When I confronted my friend Anthony with this phenomenon, his narration shook me to my very roots. He said that this man actually committed suicide by hanging the previous day at 8.45 a.m. due to a land dispute with his father was adamant and refused to carry out the necessary funeral rites to bring peace to the soul of his departed son. 

 Anthony conducted these rituals of to extricate the dead person’s wandering soul and make it his slave. Whatever we had seen was a hallucination but the rituals had succeeded and this soul would be a powerful and dangerous subservient tool in his practice of Black Magic. 

I took my second sly look and lo, there was nothing! 

WAIT FOR MY EXPERIENCES IN AFRICA AND SOUTH EAST ASIA!

According to the internet there exists an occult conspiracy for a New World Order, which is the plan to enact a one world government under a fascist dictatorship and police state. This agenda for global domination is to be carried out using fear based propaganda and mind control psychology through the news media, entertainment, and pop-culture.

This New World Order is said to be the goal of the Illuminati, a secret society shrouded in mystery, magic, mysticism and myth. Rumor has it that, the Illuminati actually consists of several secret societies and fraternal orders compartmentalized into a pyramidal hierarchy of need-to-know and initiation.

These secret societies communicate through ancient occult symbols and rituals. Such esoteric symbolism can be seen everyday, hidden in plain sight within America’s architecture, corporate logos, and even money. The most infamous of such symbols is the “all-seeing eye” found on the pyramid depicted on the back of the one dollar bill. You will also find that underneath the pyramid is the Latin inscription “Novus Ordo Seclorum”, which has can be roughly translated to read “New World Order”.

The term “New World Order” is documented to be first used in a 1926 edition of the Saturday Evening Post by Edward M. House in relation to the Council on Foreign Relations, an organization said to be related to the New World Order conspiracy. George Bush Sr. has also used the phrase in his speech “Toward a New World Order” on September 11th 1990, a date synchronistic to the tragic events eleven years later. Such a “coincidence” has prompted even more controversy amongst New World Order conspiracy theories.

Many presidents of The United States of America were indeed members of the same fraternal order known as the brotherhood Freemasonry. Today, Freemasonry labels itself not as a secret society but rather a “society with secrets”. It is true that members of Freemasonry among other fraternal orders and secret societies communicate using such arcane codex which they have sworn upon oaths never to reveal.

The Bohemian Grove Club is an organization which includes some of the most powerful men in the world. The Bohemian Club meets each year in private campgrounds located in Sonoma County California. Bohemian Club’s elite members include Presidents Ronald Regan, Richard Nixon, George Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. as well as many media and entertainment industry executives. The culmination of this event ends with a ceremony in which a human effigy is ritualistically burned at an altar beside a forty-foot concrete statue of an owl. The owl itself is said to be connected to wisdom and the occult symbolism of the Illuminati. A depiction of an owl figure can be seen within the architecture of the streets surrounding the United States Capital in Washington D.C.

Another group connected to the New World Order is the Skull and Bones fraternal brotherhood out of Yale which members include once presidential contenders George W. Bush and John Kerry, whom are both cousins related by blood.

It is said that America is actually a corporation created by the European banking system and that America is run by the bloodlines of European royalty. Ancestral research shows that many of the presidents of the United States of America are in fact ancestrally related to European royalty and the British Royal family through descendants of Strongbow.

Symbolism and secrecy all seem to be key parts in the fascination for New World Order conspiracy theory. America’s fascination for conspiracy has increased in the past few years since the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The range of these conspiracy theories run far and deep, yet many stem from the same lose ends and unanswered questions.

What can be scarier than these conspiracy theories is the reality that can be lost within some of the delusions regarding the Illuminati, the New World Order, secrecy and secret societies. New World Order and Illuminati conspiracy has become another niche in the entertainment industry world to escape within while the real tragedies occur across our communities and the globe. This could also be considered a New World Order conspiracy itself.
